Donald Trump, former U.S. President and current Republican presidential nominee, on Friday dodged inquiries on the release of his current medical records, repeatedly refusing to provide an update on his health status. This continuous evasion comes amidst Democratic nominee Kamala Harris repeatedly casting doubts on his fitness for the presidency.

In response to questions on publicizing his health records, the 78-year-old Trump implied that he has already disclosed ample information regarding his medical condition. He stated, “I’ve done five exams over the last four years. You’ve got them all; I’ve provided my health exams.” Trump highlighted these statements at an airport tarmac after landing in Detroit, Michigan.

In the heat of the election competition against the Democrat’s candidate, Vice President Harris, the former U.S. President suggested that updating his health records wasn’t a priority. Trump simply indicates his current preoccupation, pointing out, “I’m at the heart of a major and contentious battle; we’re leading.”

Further, Trump disclosed that he took cognitive tests twice and passed with an impeccable score. He challenged Harris on the same, doubting her ability to pass the cognitive test due to her not being ‘born smart’, according to him.

In the light of these developments, the Trump campaign team didn’t provide additional comments regarding his remarks in Michigan. Although Trump in August had mentioned to CBS News his willingness to release his medical records promptly, nothing of the sort has been done by his campaign to date.

Harris, who will celebrate her 60th birthday this Sunday, made public her detailed health report from the White House Doctor on October 12. The same day, Trump’s campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, stated that Trump “has voluntarily released” several health reports. According to him, these reports include a three-paragraph letter from Dr. Bruce Aronwald, dating back to last November and related to an exam of Trump conducted more than a year ago.

Cheung also cited two memos drafted in July by Republican Representative Ronny Jackson of Texas, previously Trump’s White House physician. These memos detailed the injuries Trump sustained narrowly surviving an assassination attempt at a campaign rally on July 13.

In the meantime, Harris has continued her health-focused attacks on Trump, who could become the oldest person ever elected president in U.S. history if he wins the November 5 election. She highlighted Trump’s refusal to release a comprehensive health report and his unwillingness to commit to a second debate during a rally in North Carolina on Sunday.

Harris seized a chance to question Trump’s mental health during a highly viewed Fox News interview on Wednesday evening, stating Trump “is unfit to serve,” “unstable,” and “dangerous.” She also took a jab at Trump concerning his unusual town hall event near Philadelphia on Monday night.

After two medical emergencies disrupted the planned question-and-answer session, Trump chose to stand idly on stage, listening to music before the crowd — an interlude that lasted a memorable 39 minutes — with Trump mostly silent, only swaying to the music. Harris dryly remarked on the incident, saying, “Hope he’s okay.” Her active criticism of Trump’s actions continues to fuel the political debate as Election Day draws closer.
