Fashion Week Columbus, a premier event for artists in Ohio, commenced its activities on the 13th of October. The event is an annual spectacle, providing a platform for designers and creators to showcase their unique creations in the limelight. Running till the 19th of October, the event has a full-packed schedule filled with runway shows, designer showcases, as well as several events curated to highlight emerging talents and pay homage to the established icons in the fashion industry.
One of the key highlights of the schedule was an external runway show put together by Macy’s. With a novel approach to ramp location, this show was conducted outdoors on the top floor of the Macy’s car parking lot at the esteemed Easton Town Center. It was attended by fashion enthusiasts from all over the town who basked in the joy of fashion curated by one of the oldest fashion establishments in the state.
Moreover, adding versatility to the fashion week, Nordstrom in Easton organized a beauty-focused event. It was a hub of exciting giveaways and engaging makeup tutorials making fashion and beauty more accessible to common individuals. The event was free to attend for all, allowing the residents of Columbus to indulge in the knowledge shared by beauty experts and professionals.
The ‘Recycled Runway’ event was another distinctive feature of the Fashion Week. Keeping the global concerns about sustainability and environmental conservation in mind, it provided an avenue for the designers to showcase creations made from materials otherwise deemed as trash. This event was backed by the Nurtur Salon. The creative designers behind the winning team were awarded $100 gift cards each.
Alongside these runway shows and designer showcases, there were also panel discussions with renowned fashion designers. The Headline Designers for the Fashion Week Finale congregated at the LoAnn Crane Center for Design from 6-9 p.m. for interview sessions. It was an open platform for aspiring designers to interact with and learn from the best names in the industry.
Highlighting inclusivity in the fashion world, the event also celebrated the plus size community. The day was filled with shopping events, informative panels, and lively entertainment. The Fashion Week Curve was held at the Urban Arts Space followed by the Curvy After Dark event at the Parable Café.
Wrapping up the week-long series of fashion-forward events, the annual runway show of Fashion Week Columbus took place in the grandeur of the Convention Center from 6-10 p.m. This concluding event showcased the creations of prominent designers such as Austin Tootle, Ryan Grant, Jasmine Burton, and James White.
The spirit of the fashion week was kept alive even after the final runway show, as the revelries continued into an after-party held at the Parlay Sporting Bar + Kitchen, giving a fashionable end to a fashionable week. This week-long event portrayed the fashion culture in Columbus in all its glory, bringing together the local community, designers, and fashion enthusiasts for an enriching experience. Undoubtedly, Fashion Week Columbus remains one of the unmissable events on the fashion calendar of Ohio.
