Wedding make up artist ‘Come with me to get kicked out of a wedding’: Viewers defend bride who kicked out makeup artist for overstaying welcome

A highly-talked-about incident recently unfolded on TikTok involving a wedding makeup artist getting kicked out from a bridal event, causing public outrage against her and the makeup studio she owned.

The drama started when makeup artist Keziah released a series of three videos on her wedding salon’s official TikTok account, the Key Look, where she claimed to have been unjustly expelled from a wedding event she was scheduled to work. She used the platform to share her experience of getting thrown out of a wedding event while providing hair and makeup services.

Keziah commenced the series by revealing that she had been having a challenging week. She had been working non-stop following a distressing personal event involving infidelity by her boyfriend that emotionally drained her. However, as she continued to work, she found herself having fun and even joined the wedding party in their laughter and dances. Keziah explained that she was capturing bits from her day, considering it was part of their agreement with the clients that they could film and use content from the wedding day as they saw fit.

Keziah’s main purpose behind the filming was to create a rendition of the popular “My fiancé” trend on TikTok with the wedding party’s support. Her intent was to get enough clips throughout the day to knit together into a viral video, a plan voiced clearly in the footage.

The issue that arose was not with filming itself but with its continuation that led to dissatisfaction, specifically from the groom. The filming captured not the makeup and hair process alone but other significant moments throughout the day. Eventually, the groom’s disappointment turned into frustration, and he explicitly expressed his annoyance to Keziah.

The situation escalated, leaving Keziah in tears, and the bride was forced to step in to soothe her. Unexpectedly, after leaving the venue, Keziah decided to return to the reception to capture additional footage. However, this move was cut short as she was asked to depart by the assistant planner, citing that the couple no longer wanted her to stay. Keziah’s surprise was noticeable, especially as she noticed security keeping a close watch.

Keziah’s TikTok saga didn’t receive a positive response as the Key Look TikTok account was filled with critical remarks leading to the deletion of the original videos. Some viewers’ comments were about never having seen a makeup artist so personally involved in a wedding.

Several bridesmaids also voiced their concern, stressing that the TikTok videos had intruded into their and the bride’s privacy. The videos were hindering the work of the official wedding photographers and videographers who were hired particularly for it. The bride also shared her thoughts regarding the incident.

Faced with mounting criticism, Keziah resorted to releasing an apology video. In her apology, she mentioned being emotional during the making of the videos, admitted her mistakes, and promised responsibility for her actions. Moreover, she apologised to the couple and wished them a long and happy marriage. However, viewers didn’t seem to be convinced of the sincerity behind the apology, prompting more criticisms.

This incident highlights the importance of understanding professional boundaries and ensuring that individuals’ privacy is not compromised, even in the pursuit of online fame or virality. It’s a crucial reminder that everyone involved in a wedding, from service providers to guests, should respect the couple’s day as a celebration of love and not an opportunistic event for content creation.
